A safe haven for the elderly
Azar Initiative Empowerment for the Less Privileged [popularly known as Azar Initiative] is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that is focused on catering to the needs of older persons (age 65 and above), using the vehicles of advocacy, healthcare, adult literacy, social welfare and counselling. Azar was founded in February 2017.
The name AZAR is Hebrew and it means ‘to help or to provide support. The name reflects the initiative’s goal to support and significantly improve the lives of elderly citizens by providing solutions to the inadequacies of elderly care in today’s world. Azar Initiative works towards implementing SDG 3 (ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages), SDG 5 (achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls) and SDG 10 (reducing inequalities within and among countries), both in the present and in the future.
